Hot Springs
Hot springs, also known as onsen, are probably as iconic as the cherry blossoms in Japan. For hundreds of years locals have enjoyed them for health benefits and socializing. Luckily for us, there are seven hot springs on the island varying from simple bath-like-environment to open air baths surrounded by lush nature, and even overlooking the vast ocean. Why not take a step back from the routine and breathe in peace? Got a tattoo? No problem!
Everyone is welcome!
The Hot Springs
All of the hot springs are found south of the island thus the easiest access is by car, however, public buses heading for Sakaue can be used as well (article on public buses).
Electric bicycles or taxis can also be used but is not recommended due to pricing and/or effort required (article on bicycle rental).

Some of the hot springs regularly close on a specific weekday (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday). It is best to check for the closed days below in advance as to avoid accidental arrival to a closed facility.
